Willow was walking through Hogsmeade, minding his own business. No seriously, He wasn't actually up to no good that day. Seriously. Somedays you have to take the day off from causing mischief. But then he saw something he just couldn't stand for.
"....Filthy mudblood. People like you are destroying the all of Wizardkind." Someone said. Willow stopped and turned in the direction of this statement. A stout man with blonde hair around Willow's age was yelling at a mousey, brunette boy, perhaps a year or so younger.
"P-please...I didn't do anything." He said, he was obviously afraid.
"Exactly. All you mudbloods do is take up space. We should get rid of the lot of you." He said.
"Hold sir." Willow said, walking towards him, his hand straying down to his wand.
"What is it?" The blonde boy roared. He was a Death Eater. As was clear by the Dark Mark on his arm.
"Your bothering him. And being a general disturbance with your absurd racism." Willow said.
"This is a battle for survival! Your family's pure blood, you should understand-" The Death Eater said.
"I don't and I never will. I find your ideology baseless and sickening. And no reason to hurl abuse on an innocent person. Not that their's any
good reason for that." Willow said.
"Bastard. Muggle lover. I'll kill you and this mudblood-" He grabbed his wand and pointed it at Willow. Willow had his wand out in a flash. With a quick motion a green flash of light hit the Death Eaters chest and knocked him back violently.
After a moment he got up wheezing.
"You'll pay for that. Cruc-" He called but Willow was already casting another spell, vines tangled up the death eaters legs constructing him and forcing his mouth shut.
However, that man clearly hadn't been the only death eater out and about that day, as the dark mark was now above the sky.
Willow felt a terrible pain and the ground rush up to meet him. Some spell had obviously hit him in the back. Likely by whoever had placed the dark mark. Willow got up wheezing himeself and dove for cover.
The battle of Hogsmeade had begun.

She stepped out of the edge of the woods, walking quietly not on the trails around Hogsmeade, but out of a very rough area. It was always best to be unexpected she felt and her passage disappeared in the woods behind her as she looked around for any evidence she was expected. Seeing none after a few minutes study, Emmeline began to make her way to the edge of the village and into one of it's streets quietly, hoping to avoid any problems along the way. That she would not manage this she had not learned yet, but soon would. A house on the backside was her goal and she made it across the village quite close to there before the interruption was apparent.
Hearing the spell shoot up into the sky she whirled around on one heel already lifting her wand to react as she dashed through a few people turning her way to flee! Sure thing, she spotted a man with robes over his head facing away from her casting a pink-rayed spell into another's back farther across the street. Vance cast and lightning shot from the sky and bathed the man in writhing sparks as he jerked in the air caught off guard! Darting towards him, she rolled on the ground when she saw another casting her way and heard the explosion of one of those huge pottery planters as she passed it, bits of plant and clay going everywhere like rain!
"Merlin's Bloody Balls" she exclaimed as she glanced around the side to see the one who had been hit was under some cover so not crippled thank goodness! Emmeline shot two spells into the building above the other attacker and saw tiles slide down off the roof causing that one to run, arm over his head to keep from being brain bashed as she shifted her wand towards the one on his knees from the lightning spell. A second spell his way wrapped him in ropes and she then saw her spell blasted away before it finished from another direction!
She rolled farther behind the edge of a building and quickly cast a silver shot from her wand sending her patronus a large Halloween crab scrambling quickly out of sight to pass on message of the attack to the Order. Unfortunately that also gave away her hiding spot and she leaped to her feet to run down the alley as two different blasts hit the bricking causing an explosion of real brick this time followed by screams from the street! Hit in the shoulder by a brick, she stumbled and nearly ripped a door open to a shop to fall inside, turning so she was on her back wand out and ready for another blast--

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? Remus was just sitting down to his afternoon tea when suddenly Dumbledore’s patronus burst through his window and Remus sighed. He just wanted tea. Turns out Emmeline had sent word of a fight breaking out in Hogsmeade. Luckily for them they had a very fast way of communication that the Death Eaters didn’t have – since many of them couldn’t produce a patronus. With a crack he apparated off to Hogsmeade, wand at the ready. As soon as he appeared in the village, a safe place he supposed, it being a little bit outside of the village as to avoid not apparating into someone, or right into the path of a spell, he took note of the situation. There was a young boy who seemed to be in a bit of trouble, a mousy haired boy seemingly running away from the scene – a muggle born if Remus remembered his Hogwarts students correctly, and several Death Eaters beginning their descent on the village. All the details he had been given were that the Order was being called upon to try to end this fight, seeing as it was so close to Hogwarts they had to win it, else it would be a huge blow to the war effort. Spotting Emmeline not too far from his position, Remus took up a place around the corner of one of the shops. There was a masked death eater not too far from Emmeline, and he could tell she was getting attacked by what he could see as three death eaters at once. Sending a quick stunning spell, which zoomed past her ear and hit the death eater, Remus quickly took cover around the corner of the shop. Quickly, Remus ducked out, staying low and sending off a few curses as he ran towards her position. “A right mess this is. Have the others arrived?” Remus asked quickly before looking up and around, sending off a Full Body-Bind curse at one of the nearest Death Eaters, seeing a few others starting to join the party. Boy, this was going to be so much… work. He was sure James and the others were not far behind. “How did this start?”

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
From her tent on the out skirts of Hogwarts, where she had taken refuge, she had heard the commotion.
She had half a mind to throw up a disguise before she rushed in, but her go to would be recognizeable anyway. So she went in, stunning a few Death Eaters as she moved through the commotion, hoping Severus wouldn't be called to this insanity, but that was probably a fools wish.
She caught sight of Remus and some woman she knew was another gryffindor, part of the order. Great.
This was exactly a situation Regulus had mentioned.
She wouldn't be surprised if he had somehow organized this in some way. To bring them all into one place.
She stayed in the shadows for a few moments longer before approaching her brother and the woman, a grin on her face. "Where's your other friends, Remus? Evans and Potter still glued at the face? And I thought Sirius was always trailing you like a lost puppy."
Her Lily face appeared appeared for a moment before melting into her own, smiling, twirling her wand. "Some Order you lot are, only two of you at the start of the commotion!"
Was she trying for friendly banter? Perhaps. Today would be a revelation of many things. Where she truly lied - which was not with the order or the death eaters, tough the black long sleeved dress said otherwise.
She was smiling a but longer. "It's good to see you.... Again, Remus."
✘ oh boy...

Things had quickly gotten out of hand. The Death Eaters had converged quickly on Hogsmeade, many hooded figures appearing and casting spells to clear the area. Thankfully, they were initially scattered allowing Willow time to disperse groups with twirling enchanted vines, a deluge of conjured thorns and splinters, and spells to stun and knockout any nearby enemies.
Of course, he wouldn't have lasted long without the appearance of the formidable Emmeline Vance, which he had heard a bit about, since joining the order. Remus joined the fray not too long after. He was one of those Marauders, a clique of which you'd have to be dense as a brick not to have taken some notice of, especially in Order circles.
Willow was in desperate need to catch his breath and could use a few friends, so he made his way towards the two. Though it was hard going, he had taken a couple of hits and he was a bit unsteady on his feet.
Then he saw a familiar, pretty face. Rose. What auspicious timing.
"Three actually!" Willow called out as he made his way over, making his approach as dramatic as possible
"Sorry about the mess Ms. Vance, Mr.Lupin. A death eater was threatening a muggleborn so things got out of hand." Willow said, sounding more amused then authentically sorry.
"Didn't expect you here Ms. Rose, and I'm sorry about this, but I'm not sure if I can exactly trust you." Willow said raising his wand and aiming it at the dark robed girl.
"It's nothing personal. Of course." Willow said.

As she half fell, half pushed her way into the shop, she was expecting retaliation and so with a hair trigger, her reaction time was to shoot at anything at the door way! She was not expecting it to be a sudden appearance under fire of an Order member, especially Remus! Her blast from her wand was a split second move so the blast shot just past his ear nearly searing his beard as it passed! She screamed at him "WHAT THE SHIT REMUS??" as she shoved herself back into the alley to grab him and yank him inside out of danger!
It was a side door into a shop in the alley, probably for deliveries and she expected employees to be drawn after them in a minute as she glanced behind her seeing piles of boxes probably stock of some kind. She turned her head back to Remus raising her voice above another blast and brick shards slamming down across the pavement "I JUST FLIPPING SENT THE MESSAGE!" she glanced out the doorway wand ready to shoot and saw no one. Grabbing Remus she yanked him through the other door into the shop proper and dashed across the way through a few confused customers to the door to look out.
Seeing a dark figure looking down the alley she shot him with an arrow spell as he grabbed his shoulder and flipped back around the corner receiving her stunning spell to the side of his head flipping him over smack down on the pavement. Remus babbled at her and she shook her head looking for another target. "No clue, I saw a guy shooting another in the back and zapped him! That drew three others after me, I don't even know why they were attacking the guy!" Out of nowhere, a woman showed up speaking to Remus as if dangerous curses were not being thrown around the area! Eyes looking incredulously at this insane person, she left her for Remus to deal with as she ducked a purple-something-curse which sailed over her head into the actual shop causing screams from the clientèle who scatted behind shelves and other such...
Squatting in the doorway she shot at a chimney causing a shower of bricks on one of the assailants positions and shooting two arrows into his arse as he flailed trying to escape the falling death! That figured lay crumpled on the sidewalk a moment later but she caught the guy's arm who ran over unsteadily and pointed at him to Remus still ignoring the girl. "Here! Ask him! He was the one who got shot and I defended!" Movement in the street said someone was jockeying for another shot and she pulled back from the door as something hit the door sill and a slag of melted stone poured down and onto the floor which she jumped back to avoid being hit by knocking people back into the shop farther! "Get out of the doorway!"

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? Oh, he was being grabbed now. This was fine. Regardless, he kept himself angled and ready to fire if someone had come into his view. Now he was inside the shop, and luckily inside wasn’t quite as dangerous, until there was a bit of an explosion sending brick flying. He quickly cast a protecting charm to shield himself from the debris, and then raised an eyebrow, staying calm, despite the circumstances. “Are you complaining about me showing up quickly?” Of course she was shouting, and he had raised his voice so she could hear him over the hubbub as Emmeline dashed through to the other door away from the explosion area. With a whirl of his wand, he quickly cast a spell that would reinforce the walls of the shop and the counter behind which one would take money. “Everyone get behind the counter and stay there until this is over.” After all, it was their jobs not only to fight the Death Eaters but protect the innocent as well, which made their jobs a bit harder. However, it was at that time when Rose approached him from the back in the shadows, despite his spell casting to create a more secure location for the customers of the shop, and he nearly froze for a moment, a spell crashing through a window, missing Remus, but the glass had got him, causing a cut along his front. He winced, casting a healing spell as he pulled Rose around the counter with the others, squatting down and quickly talking to her. “Stay here. It’s not safe around here. They’ll be here in a second. Not like everyone can just drop what they’re doing and come to a fight.” He glanced at Emmeline in the doorway, some of the customers not heading his orders. “Someone needs to stay here and make sure these people are alright. Just stay out of it and away from the trouble. Please.” Of course, it just had to be that moment when Willow had run into the shop and Remus looked up to see Emmeline jumping back from the melting stone that had dropped right in front of her. He wasn’t going to say anything and stand up to get back to helping Emmeline out with the fight, but the Willow raised his wand at his sister and Remus immediately stepped between them. “That’s my sister you’re talking to. If you trust me, then you trust her. Our enemy is out there, not here. So, leave her be.” His voice had come out in a growl before looking to Emmeline, feeling bad for essentially letting her fight this alone. “We’ll talk about appropriate actions after this. You started this, and we’re going to finish it. You should stay back too.” He was just a kid after all.

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
The other Gryffindor Girl, who she did not know the name of arrived in a blaze of a wand, towards them, and they were pulled into an alley. Okay, sure, she was acting slightly erratically. Rose, however, ignored her brother in favour of stunning a few more Death Eaters that were pushing their way through the doorway. She gave a glare at the other woman, who had given her a look.
"Willow!" She was about to tackle the boy in a hug before his wand was pointed at her and she sighed.
"Well met, Mr Fey, I see word travels faster than water. But I assure you, I'm not on their-" and she gestures to the few stunned Death Eaters around them. "Side. I'm a sort of Mercenary, I suppose you could call it, but I don't work for the highest paying client. I work for myself, help where I see fit."
She shook her head with a smile, "so of course, nothing personal at all, Willow. I would expect you to react in such a way."
"I can take care of myself, thanks," Rose said lowly as he stood between her and Willow, stunning more death eaters who tried to come after them with a quick flick of her wrist and turn of her head towards the door. "After all, I've done," Rose muttered. "And he still trusts me so blindly. Stupid."
She shook her head, "me? Stay out of this? I mean, for a minute and I'll make sure no one needs any healing spells, but goddamnit Remus, I'm not just gonna hang back while people are getting attacked!"

Willow looked between the three. He switched targets to the doorway, where he assisted Rose in keeping the door clear. Casting over her shoulder.
"Sister. Intriguing. Seems like she got the charm in the family. Listen mate, I'm one of the best duelists at school, so I'd appreciate it if you left me to the field in which I excel. Fighting bloody Death Eaters." Willow said.
"Glad to be fighting side by side with you then Rose. Want to get a bite after this?" Willow said, as he continued casually laying down suppressive fire.
"Anyway. Any of you big strong adults have any sort of game plan here? Or is our plan to stay here until this building collapses with us inside it." Willow said. Staying here much longer seemed like suicide to him. Unless the cavalry came in then they would be drowned by the sheer number of Death Eaters. Most of these Death Eaters had been talentless thugs, what if someone with actual talent dropped in?
They would probably be pretty well screwed then.

War, she would think later, really is fought by idiots on both sides.
She had shaken her head at Lupin but not said anything else; if they lived she would explain her exclamations. She had also heard him chant over their exit, but had not taken the time on purpose to double check. Leaving any entry for the enemy was just stupid really. She tried not to be stupid. Emmeline defended the front doorway, shooting as she could, watching others go down on the street. Some slipped into the alley while she deflected, ducked, or rebounded curses she assumed to try the side door into the shop and come around behind them. She had just come that way and despite his counter-spells, she heard splintering wood in that direction.
"Lupin! They come the alley doorway now, watch out" she called over her shoulder as she stopped a knee reversal jinx which would have been a painful way to finish a fight for sure. She heard the others argue behind her and stopped trying to roll her eyes for where it went! Ah that's where that face had been from, Remus' sister, she thought as she heard them talking. The newcomer sister and the original victim began defending the side alley door she could hear as the enemy found their supposed entry guarded. Good, there were people behind them who could not be vouched for to be totally innocent.
"Game plan?" she shouted back into the room as she cursed a flaming snake back across the street "Easy! Get the people out safely! Go ahead and use a portkey, just outside the village should be good enough." She heard a ruckus past the shop down the street opposite the fight and thought it sounded like pitched battle! A few flashes, colored lights, then a few massive sounding flesh-punches told her something was coming this way at least. "Someone's coming, better hur--" and she dropped to the floor, seeing the shop across form them sort of explode (reminding her greatly of a mnemonic enhancer charm) with blue flames in all directions.
She ducked backwards (a bit tricky) as the flames burst in through the doorway just barely, giving out as they missed her chin and she almost fell backwards onto the floor! A moment later and she felt the battle turning slightly, seeing a few of those she had been fighting move from cover to cover and at least two of those big black tendrils go shooting up into the sky that those stupid deatheaters enjoyed deploying! "I think either the Order is coming or someone brought forth a hippopotamus from the zoo as a distraction from the left" which was at least away from where the fight had started "cause they are retreating right! Come here, Remus, do you know how to throw a rounder?"
'Seriously Emmeline? Cricket match comments now? Why must you enjoy violence so much' she thought to herself...

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? Remus narrowed his eyes at Willow again, as he began to cast a few spells to make a couple of portkeys for the innocents. While he did that, he snapped, his eyes glancing towards him, while facing the objects he was charming. “War isn’t just about dueling. And for your information, last year I was known as the best duelist in Hogwarts, but even I’m completely out of my element here. You should run off to the safety of the castle before you get killed, kid.” He muttered the spell and handed off a few items to the people in the store, sending them to the outskirts of Hogsmeade, and told them to run, go home. If this was their home, then go to a family’s place. If none of those work, then Diagon Alley. Anywhere away from here. He picked up a teapot, a shoe, and a plank of wood. He stood and handed them to Rose. “If you actually want to help, hand these to people who need them. Just need to say the incantation ‘Portare’ to activate it. It’ll send them out of the town, far enough away to not get hurt.” Most of the time, Portkeys were timed, or they would work as soon as touched, but Remus had been able to manipulate the spell so a new incantation would be needed to activate it. Far more useful in his opinion. Remus honestly didn’t trust her in a fight, but he knew she would want no innocents to be hurt – therefore this was the best way for her to help and not wonder if she would turn her wand on his comrades. “Maybe if you took your head out of your ass, kid, you’d understand what we’re doing here.” He flicked his wand to stun a death eater who had attempted to enter the back. At that time, he recognized some other order members out in the field. Good. At least they weren’t alone. He wondered if James or Lily or Sirius or Peter were out there. In a way, he didn’t want them here, but he knew they would want to be here. He didn’t doubt James and Sirius were fighting back to back defending each other. He quickly looked to Emmeline and smiled. Good ol’ muggle games. He gave her a quick nod, hooking his hands together and getting ready to vault her out. “Ready.”

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
Rose had indeed taken the moment of ceased fire to over look Willow, chanting healing spells at him in a rushed sort of manner, but effective enough. Cuts where healed, but all in all, it seemed he was mostly bruised, and she could really heal that with magic, and her salves were in her tent near the forest.
"Bite to eat, Willow? Are you being ironic?" She chuckled, shaking her head.
Luckily Willow knew how to find her there. But would probably end up being tended to by Poppy.
She wasn't enjoying the bossiness of the Gryffindor girl - she still didn't have a name, didn't care to really. She was already on her nerves, directing them.
Remus of course, following through with that.
There was an explosion from across the street and she grabbed a handfull of fabric, which she assumed was Willow's and yanked him down behind the counter.
"Fucking idiots," she muttered. "Don't your Order people know not to throw around curses that explode things before checking if there's anyone inside?"
Yeah, she was annoyed.
Idiots on both sides.
She could hear Sirius and James somewhere farther off and honestly didn't not want to be anywhere near here when they approached closer.
A rounder? Honestly? Who was this person?
Rose stood, clearing the alleyway door. "I'm moving. Because Willow's right, I'm not going to be here when this place is blasted to smithereens either!"
However, Portkeys were shoved into her hands, before she could move and she blinked at his instructions; but they nearly all fell out of her hands at his next words! She hadn't, ever, in her life, heard Remus cuss and even then; the word he used was light. But it was still a shock. War did do things to people!
But she also saw the reason of him doing this, even if she had just blasted a few minor death eaters with stunners.
She went to move towards the door, "c'mon Willow, you can help me out, then."

War was a game.
Of course, it was an important game. Lives were at stake and it should never be taken frivolously. Still, it did no good to treat it as anything else. Resources needed to be managed. Tactics and strategy to tend to. And of course, the human element.
"Of course I know war isn't just about dueling. I'm a Slytherin, not some brainless Gryfindor jock. Thing is, I've been keeping in mind urban warfare in my training. A benefit of having an Auror for a mother." Willow said, peaking out to cast another stunning spell at a nearby Death Eater.
Willow kept up his fire, and soon the area immediately outside the building was a tangle of roots, thorny vines and the knocked out bodies of Death Eaters. He barely noticed Rose healing him. His duty, as he saw it, was to keep the enemy out as the others arranged things. Then he felt himself yanked behind the counter
"Damn. That was close. Thanks Rose, for everything." Willow said. They needed to get out of this place. This place was going to be rubble soon.
"Yeah. That'd be best. Let's get the hell out of here Rose." Willow said, standing back up. He headed out the door, with Rose hopefully close behind.

As far as fights and battles went, this one was rough enough it seemed to her, but not the worst thankfully. That kid must have distracted them by being in the wrong place wrong time before they could get whatever they had been up to accomplished. They certainly hadn't come armed to the teeth with prepared stuff, though wands were bad enough. Emmeline hated the fact a few shops got blown though as that was going to make it difficult indeed to do much in the village for awhile. She'd need to hit up a few muggle areas for food stuffs right after this if she survived.
Fortunately for her Remus had seen at least one cricket match. There were a lot of foreigners and tourists who wouldn't have understood, but most people in the UK had some experience with the terms. hen he held out his hands she nodded adding "Thanks," and put one foot in his hands waiting for that werewolf strength to toss her. While she hadn't worked with many, the stories about werewolf strength were pretty common and she had seen him in the Order do some tuff stuff. When he threw her, she tried to do a flip and landed across the street as much distraction then anything else, rolling over as she landed into the alley across the street!
While no gymnast, she could manage stuff most people wouldn't attempt anyway! Getting up dizzily, she was able to make it to the downed deatheater and rope spell him quickly before he could regain consciousness and get away! A foot down on his wand which snapped solved the other half of that. As she saw others moving up the block with wands drawn, she searched the unconscious one and then kept one foot on his back. Hoping the others got away, she waited till someone from the Order or the Ministry turned up that she recognized.
